We offer Special Interest Tours with a variety of themes based on the wonderful collections in the House.
Textiles
The textile tour looks at the wealth of textiles at Doddington including 16th century tapestries, a fabulous 19th Century Egyptian tent, Georgian bed hangings, as well as some of the special and delicate textiles that we are unable to show to the general public.
Porcelain and Ceramics
There are wonderful collections of porcelain and ceramics at Doddington dating from 17th century right through to the contemporary ceramics collected by the family.
Furniture
There is a fascinating collection of furniture from every period of Doddington’s 400 year history - Cromwellian Bobbin Chairs; fine Georgian pieces; fabulous carved restoration furniture; flamboyant Georgian cabinets and a huge table in the great Hall designed and made recently out of a single Oak tree from the Doddington woods.
We can offer specialist tours on alternative topics such as the paintings, Georgian decorative schemes, the challenges of managing and caring for an historic house and so on. Please tell us about your special interest and we will endeavour to tailor your tour to it.
