Group visits

Thank you for helping to make our visit so enjoyable; the extra help given to those who needed it was greatly appreciated.  Doddington Hall is a stunning home none of us had visited before and the delightful, knowledgeable guides brought the hall to life - thank goodness it is still a family home and not a cold museum  -  please convey our thanks to them. The lunch was delicious and I think the shop benefitted from us! (August 2011)

Harby WI,

A big thank you to you and all the staff, who made our visit yesterday such a success. The guides were as usual very knowledgeable and funny! The food was excellent and thanks for ensuring we had vegetarian options.  Please pass on our thanks to all involved. (December 2009)

One big thank you to your staff for giving us a great day out.  Your guides were very much appreciated giving us so much information about the house.  The meal was very good and everybody enjoyed it.  The 2 vegetarian ladies were over the moon with their dinner and said it was the best they had had in all our 8 country house and castle visits.  The bauble barn was very impressive and so was the butchery dept. and shop.  Nobody came away empty handed.  Your plum bread and pork pie were delicious... once again a big thank you. (December 2009)

Brenda Bottomley,Barnsley Libraries

Many thanks for the excellent visit yesterday (August 2009). Your guides were fantastic, they had such knowledge and a very friendly manner which was much appreciated. I think that the visit has encouraged many to come again, particularly in the spring as recommended by the Head Gardener. Surprisingly many did not know of your existence but are now happily passing the news on to their friends. Congratulations also to the catering team who provided a superb lunch very promptly and again with such a friendly manner. You are obviously a happy team – and it shows. Thanks for all your help and the efficient way that it was all arranged.

Joy Hall,Barclays Bank Pensioners Association

Just to let you know everyone enjoyed their visit to the gardens very much, and quite a few will be back bringing their friends... a lot of photographs where taken... My grandson liked the seats cut from the old tree stumps when we walked the nature trail...The Littlehouse was very popular ... and the tea and home made cakes very enjoyable. Many also said what a lovely church and the stained glass windows were greatly admired... I also remembered to buy some more Lincolnshire sausages... in the farm shop. Thank you for all your help in arranging this group visit.- Valerie Leonardi & Members of Nottingham C.H.A. Rambling Club

Weddings

A huge thank you to yourself (Justine) and and all the staff at Doddington Hall on the day itself (September 2010) for making it so memorable. Everything went perfectly and that is down to you – so thank you. The day was wonderful and the memories will last a lifetime. We received so many compliments from guests on how beautiful the Hall and Gardens were. We will be revisiting the Hall whenever we can to keep our memories of that day alive.

Mr & Mrs B,

Just want to say a big thank you to Justine and everyone that helped make our wedding day so special. Then venue was perfect, the food was delicious and the marquee was beautifully done. The day went perfectly, even the wasps were not so bad in the end! I could not fault one thing, you did a great job organising everything and we are so grateful. The guests all commented on how lovely everything about the day was, especially the posh loos, and alot of them said it was the best wedding they have attended, which is just a reflection on how well you did.  I wish we coud get married everyday at Doddington Hall.  Thank you so much for your time and effort. (28 August 2010. Long Gallery ceremony followed by Avenue marquee reception.)

Natalie & Richard,Lincs

We would both like to thank you so much for your part in making our wedding day so special. All your recommendations, catering, florist, jazz band, photographer etc were all superb and we thank you for your help in finding these people for us. Absolutely all of our guests had a wonderful time and kept saying how relaxed and how much fun the day was, exactly what we hoped to achieve. Fiona, dealing with you from start to finish has been a delight and Doddington should be proud of you – thank you once again so much.We have such wonderful memories now to treasure of our wedding day and once again, we genuinely thank you for your great part in making it so special.

Dorothy and Alan Forrester,

We cannot thank you enough for making Amy and Toby's wedding day so wonderful on Easter Saturday. The elegance of the surroundings of Doddington Hall and your calm organising and support just added to the happiness we all felt on the day. Please pass on our grateful thanks to all concerned.

Joan and Tony Hollings,

Thank you so much for all your help and brilliant organisation for Katy and Martin's wedding on Saturday. Martin described you in his speech at the reception as 'completely unflappable' and he was quite right. You kept us all calm when we were beginning to panic and we are all very grateful. All the guests were stunned at the beautiful setting of the Hall, the ground and the marquee. Please pass on our thanks to Claire and James as well. Katy and Martin, and all of us, had the most wonderful day.

Sharon and Tony Woodhouse,

Thank you for making our dream day come true. The Littlehouse and the grounds of the Hall were the perfect setting for the perfect day!

Russ and Deborah Holland ,

I simply wanted to say how thrilled I was with every aspect of the arrangements for Helen and Ian's wedding reception. The venue, marquee, catering and support were first class throughout and all credit must go to you for guiding us through all the arrangements in such a friendly and efficient manner. The catering was superb. Janey worked non-stop all day without ever losing her winning smile and looked after us if we were here own. I cannot fault the team which supported her either. The meal itself was absolutely delicious. The marquee was splendid even to the point where they extended the dance floor area with less than 24 hours notice. Super service!I do hope I haven't missed anybody. So many people worked diligently to make the most wonderful day not only for Helen and Ian but all of us. A memorable day indeed.

Toby Raby,

School Visits

Hello I am writing to you to tell you how much I liked Doddington Hall. My favourite bit was looking at all the armour and guns, the guns looked alot different then to when they are now. The tent room was the best room, I nearly fell asleep in it! Also I liked guessing what all the things were used for on the carpet.

Thankyou for showing us round it was cool my favourite part was when we saw the weapons in the hall it was wicked.

Adam,

Thank you for allowing us to come to Doddington Hall. I can not really think of a favourite. The tent room was outstanding. The garden was bigger than I thought it would be. The tour around was cool. It is also awesome that a family actually lives there. I wish I could of took my camera so I could show my Family.

EM (pupil),Brumby Junior School

Thank you for showing us around on Thursday. My favourite part was going round the garden. It was really exciting! Doddington Hall is the best trip I have ever been on. I liked being showed round the inside of the actual house as well. I really appreciated the fact  that you gave up your time to show us all around. When I arrived there I was delighted that I was going to be shown around. It was an enjoyable trip!

Thank you very much for a very enjoyable and educational visit. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and you and your staff ensured that everything ran like clockwork.  It was lovely for us adults to be able to leave clock watching on the day to you!  We will definitely recommend you to other schools. Thank you again.

Farm Shop and Cafe

Thank you for the wonderful time I had at your Farm Shop and Cafe on Wednesday (Jan 2011). We settled for tea and scone late afternoon, which were superb. The service I received in both Shop and Cafe was exceptional. The Shop staff were helpful at every given opportunity, from the lady behind the Deli letting us taste before we bought to the young man behind the till, starting conversation and helping me with my bags to the car. Anyone would think your staff are handpicked! We were dealt with in the Cafe with no problems at all and felt like we could spend hours shopping. We left happy ladies, and will be visiting again.

EW,

I just wanted to say how enjoyable the cookery courses have been with Amy (2010).  I booked myself on the jam, chutney and Christmas pudding courses – each one was a source of enjoyment and much was learned.  Amy has a wealth of knowledge at her finger tips which she readily shared with us all.  I had never made jam before but she made it so easy.  Amy’s relaxed and friendly style brings out the best in everyone and each course soon brought out a feeling of mutual empathy between those attending and Amy.  Lovely mornings/afternoons rounded off by a visit to your super shop and restaurant.  I am really looking forward to more courses and constantly recommend  them to friends and colleagues.

GR,Lincoln

Many thanks for yesterday (Learn to Make Jam workshop 17/07/10). I thoroughly enjoyed the morning. As a couple of the girls said - what a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

Jacky,Nettleham

I just wanted to say thanks for such a fabulous day on Saturday (Learn to Make Jam workshop 10/07/10). It was such good fun and the handouts were a big help.

Catherine,Lincoln

My Grandmother and I, together with my two little girls, had lunch last week at Doddington Hall and it was the best fish and chips we have had. We were delighted to be offered warm fennel bread and olive pate to start with; it was all absolutely delicious. Your staff were very attentive and very helpful especially with the girls. Please pass on our sincere thanks to your staff and we very much look forward to our next trip to Doddington Hall.

Alex Bavin,Lincolnshire

I just wanted to drop a line to say how much we all enjoyed our evening on Saturday. (Saturday Night Seven, November 2009.)  What a fantastic concept, we thoroughly enjoyed all the food and the service was impeccable. Such friendly and helpful staff, they certainly made a big contribution to how much we enjoyed our evening. Many thanks from all of us!!! We hope we will be able to come back again soon.

Tracy Markham,

I just wanted to say a huge thankyou for helping me to organise the lunch yesterday for my father in-law. He has sent me a picture via email already of them all at the meal and the balloon etc was a most appreciated addition. He had a wonderful day and especially enjoyed his creme brulee! His wife was very impressed with the ambience and friendliness of your cafe and told me how she is looking forward to bringing all her friends there in the near future. A big success. Many many thanks.

Bronwen Roberts,

We certainly were not disappointed with Saturday Night Seven. The food was delicious and I must say I cannot think of anywhere in or around Lincoln where we would get a better meal. The wine was very good and reasonably priced. The waiter and waitresses were polite and well informed. We would certainly come again and recommend you to our friends.

Penny Blower,Lincolnshire

From the very beginning the service and everything about this place has never been anything but top class. Always friendly, spotless and the array of goods increases all the time. Keep it up and continued success to you all.

House and Gardens

We were extremely impressed by the way (Doddington Hall is) run. We arrived (Dec 2010) just gone ten and the place was already buzzing with people visiting the farm shop, buying Christmas trees and visiting the Hall. The Hall is in an impressive state of repair and the guides in each room extremely polite and very helpful. The way Claire Birch had decorated the Hall for Christmas was innovative and refreshing and my friend and I were captivated by the ‘forest’ in the Long Gallery. Having the choir in the Gallery singing carols also helped the atmosphere. Lunch in the café was truly superb. The standard of catering we experienced on Saturday would shame many so-called Five Star restaurants. The tree decorations you could buy (in the Bauble Barn) were stunning too. We had a wonderful day at Doddington and intend to return.

ND,

I just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had at the wedding dress exhibition. It was outstanding, truly wonderful, and I shall be telling all my friends and neighbours who have not been to get themselves over there or they will miss something very special.

SB,Lincoln

(I have been to see ) the fantastic Wedding Dress Exhibition. The Volunteers made us welcome and it made me realise what a super lot they are. I was taken by the equestrian outfit, with the model horse.

Gerry,Lincoln

Just want to say how much I enjoyed the wedding dress exhibition (August 2010).  I visited last week with some of my students and we thought it was top class and far more to see than we imagined.

Brenda Scarman,Lincs

We visited Doddington Hall today (December 2009) and were so taken with all the beautiful decorations that we wanted to express our delight and thanks to all those concerned. Such a lovely idea to decorate the hall with home grown flowers and foliage, and it was obvious much thought and care had been put into producing the material used so effectively within the rooms. Our visit was an enchanting prelude to Christmas which we thoroughly enjoyed. Many thanks.
