Resurrection of the Walled Kitchen Garden at Doddington

Assisted by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we have resurrected our two-acre walled Kitchen Garden to produce wonderfully fresh fruit and vegetables for the Farm Shop and Café. Just a stone's throw from the Farm Shop and under the gaze of the Hall and Church, the Kitchen Garden is a delightful and fascinating place. (If you would like to learn more about growing veg, or you would like to meet new friends and get involved, why not consider joining our volunteers?)

We are growing a very wide variety of produce including many rare and heritage varieties. We use organic techniques, biological control methods and rotate crops for maximum production and pest control. Local school-children and students are actively involved in the Kitchen Garden and we offer fun activities for schools and families visiting the gardens.

The Kitchen Garden is usually open for Farm Shop & Cafe customers to enjoy a stroll round, but please check with staff first.

We publish a diary note at the beginning of each month about what to expect in that month. This is on our events page. Why not pop in to see what you have been reading about?

Fun for the children in the Kitchen Garden

We often have extra activities for children in the Kitchen Garden, where little ones can discover mini-beasts, find produce and crush herbs etc. Please check our events page, or call us on 01522 694 308.

We also involve schools in our Kitchen Garden with great success!

Cooking in the Kitchen Garden - cooking demonstrations

Our Cooking in the Kitchen Garden sessions are free, and offer tasty fun for the lover of cooking, gardening and of course eating! Using fresh produce harvested from the Kitchen Garden, local cook Amy Claridge will rustle up some delicious dishes then you have the hard task of sampling them! The dates for 2010 are 5 June, 3 July, 7 August & 4 September. All Saturdays, all 11am start.) If you have any queries, you are welcome to call Amy direct on 01522 698 698.

Catkin Flowers' Cutting Garden

The Kitchen Garden is now home to Rachel Petheram and her business Catkin Flowers. Rachel is passionate about seasonal English flowers, which she grows in the Kitchen Garden. Her flowers are usually for sale in the Farm Shop in pretty bunches. Rachel is offering events at Doddington.
