THE FESTIVE BUZZ THIS WEEKEND! (15&16 DEC)

This weekend at Doddington Hall, Farm Shop & Cafe (Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 December) will have an extra buzz about it as not only will the family’s Christmas decorations be open to the public and there will be some very jolly ‘music to choose trees by’ in the Georgian Stable Yard but also in the farm shop customers are invited to try some wonderfully warming local beer and Doddington Honey, made from bees who roam the Estate.

On Saturday 15 December, in the Georgian Stable Yard, those enjoying the tradition of choosing a home grown freshly-cut tree can also enjoy the foot stompingly and hip swayingly good Christmas carols and festive favourites played by the Lincolnshire Hospitals Band. (10am to 3pm.)

If you don’t feel Christmassy yet, then this surely will help you along as you pick your tree, browse the baubles or indulge in some tasty nibbles such as mulled wine and hot BBQ treats. (We feel warmer just thinking about it!)

But before you pick your tree, why not pop in and see the family decorations in the Hall? The grand Elizabethan lady Doddington Hall loves Christmas and each year the family has a huge tree, roaring fire and family decorations in the Great Hall and Brown Parlour. You are very welcome to come along and soak up the festive but reflective atmosphere, which is sure to be loved by your family’s youngest and oldest members alike. (15 & 16 December, 10 am to 4pm, £3 pp under 16s £1.50. Please bear in mind that Sunday 16 will be the last chance to see the decorations this year, so please don’t miss out.)

In the farm shop and café there are two delicious tastings on the Saturday only from 11 am to 4pm.

If you are over 18, why not discover Milestone Brewery’s deservedly popular beers and see if they are just the thing for your festive tipple this year? Or if you have someone in your life that is hard to buy for, could this be just the gift? Come along, have a taste and see what you think!

Like Pooh Bear, everyone loves honey and here at Doddington Hall is no exception as the honey sold in the farm shop is made by the bees that live on the Estate. But like the bees themselves, Doddington Honey flies off the farm shop shelves with such speed we know you love it too. Whether you like to spread it on your toast, add it to a hot toddy or even cook with it (it’s wonderful with Chinese Five Spice and Soy on duck!) then a jar of Doddington Honey is a perfect purchase or gift. Why not come and meet the producer and try some different types? ‘Bee’ quick though in case it all ‘buzzes’ away and we find ourselves in the ‘sticky’ situation of having none left!
