PIPPA GREENWOOD AT DODDINGTON THURS 2 OCT
A gardening expert and award-winning author from Radio 4’s Gardener’s Question Time and BBC 2’s Gardeners’ World will be meeting Lincolnshire gardeners and vegetable growers in October as part of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Growing for Success Series of talks.
Pippa Greenwood will be at Doddington Hall on Thursday 2nd October talking on the subject of common sense organic kitchen gardening. A trained botanist with a special interest in garden pests, Pippa is also one of Britain's leading plant pathologists, having run the RHS's plant pathology department at RHS garden Wisley for 11 years. The talk is open to both RHS members and non-members
People are invited to arrive from 5pm for a stroll round Doddington Hall’s Ornamental Gardens and two-acre walled Kitchen Garden before settling at 6.30pm in the beautiful Long Gallery to hear Pippa’s insightful hour-long talk. Afterwards, there is the option to enjoy a special menu in Doddington Hall’s Farm Shop Café, which will naturally showcase fresh, seasonal vegetables from the Kitchen Garden (menu posted below).
Pippa’s talk promises the chance to discover how to produce scrumptious organic vegetables and other edibles, with maximum enjoyment and minimum impact upon the environment.
Claire Birch, who owns and runs the Hall, is looking forward to Pippa’s visit. “Since our restored Kitchen Garden was re-opened to the public a year ago, it’s become clear that by the number of people visiting and asking questions that many are very keen to grow their own - whether that involves a large part of the garden or a few tubs of herbs. Pippa’s knowledge and experience, as well as her warm personality, will ensure that this is a popular event and I am really looking forward to welcoming her to Doddington!”
