Taste Italy in the Kitchen Gdn, Sat 23 Aug, FREE
It will be an ‘Italian job’ at Doddington Hall’s next Cooking in the Kitchen Garden demo on Bank Holiday Saturday 23 August at 11am when the dishes cooked will all be inspired by Italian dishes and use vegetables and herbs picked fresh from the Kitchen Garden itself.
The demo is free with no need to book, and takes place outdoors (with shelter/shade) in Doddington Hall’s two-acre restored Kitchen Garden and the Herb Garden both of which cookery and gardening fans are welcome to stroll round and enjoy during the demo.
The demonstrations are organised by Doddington Hall to inspire both cooks and gardeners into cooking or growing something new and is enjoyed by young keen would-be chefs as well. It also celebrates the newly-restored Kitchen Garden’s first complete summer season as much of last year’s hard work is now paying off with lots of delicious fruit, veg and herbs. The outdoor cook will be Amy Claridge, who lives in the village and in her spare time enjoys all things culinary.
On the day Amy will be making Kitchen Garden Sauce & Pasta, a really easy-to-make sauce for pasta that’s full of flavour but uses just a few Kitchen Garden ingredients such as tomatoes and herbs, and could also be used with gnocchi, on mini bruschetta as a canapé or even on pizza. Also being made will be lovely Doddington Runner Bean Salad with Dressing piled on Griddled Aubergine / Courgette – you’ll never want to boil your runner beans again!
There is no charge to attend the cooking demonstrations, and no need to book – just wander into the Kitchen Garden at 11am on Bank Holiday Saturday 28 August! The café is open for lunch if people wish to eat after the demo (not the demo dishes), but booking advisable by calling 01522 688 581. For more information, please see www.doddingtonhall.com
