DODDINGTON CELEBRATES STAR AWARD!
Doddington Hall has won the award for ‘Small Visitor Attraction’ in this year’s 2008 Tourism Oscars, which showcase Lincolnshire’s best tourist businesses and are organised by Lincolnshire Tourism. The awards - called the STAR Awards - took place on Friday 24 October and were presented Peter White, Disability Affairs Correspondent for the BBC. There were five catagories, and ten county tourism businesses were recognised overall.
Earlier this year, Doddington Hall was the Overall Winner in the county’s Environmental Awards and just a couple of weeks ago the Hall also won a Gold for Sustainable Tourism and three bronzes (in the Access for All, Taste of England and Small Visitor Attraction categories) in the East Midlands Tourism’s regional awards.
"I'm really proud of this STAR award,” explains Claire Birch, who owns and runs the Hall. “It acknowledges the hard work put in by all the staff and volunteers at Doddington Hall and recognises our dedication to making the Hall offer something to everyone - whether they love history, art, buildings, walled gardens, vegetables or food. Lincolnshire offers the visitor so much and is perfect for days out or holidays and we're honoured to contribute to the county's status as an ideal destination. It's great that Lincolnshire Tourism works hard to promote the county and we're thrilled to be recognised by these Awards."
The STAR awards recognise and reward high quality businesses and crown the best tourism businesses from across the county. “The competition was tough but the winners are shining examples of the great experiences people can expect in Lincolnshire,” explains Feargus Mack, head of marketing at Lincolnshire Tourism. “I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the wining and highly commended businesses.”
Next month will see the winners of the national FARMA awards announced, and Doddington Hall’s fingers are crossed for more success!
