Calling all jam makers & strawberry lovers! Sat 26 June

Our free Strawberry Fair event promise a fun day for all the family. We'll have tasters, recipes, a growing expert, a cooking demo and the chance to enter our home-made jam competition!  Strawberry Fair at Doddington Hall Farm Shop will be a colourful village fete-style event on Saturday 26 June that will include lots of ideas for eating and cooking / baking with strawberries. We can't wait...

Strawberry growing expert Judith Goacher will be on hand if you're thinking of growing strawberries at home, and a strawberry-themed cooking demo with Amy from our Cooking in the Kitchen Garden sessions will inspire the cooks. Amy will be making her version of Welsh Cakes - Strawberry Welsh Cakes.

There will also be delicious dishes prepared by Jane and cakes made by Eileen to try, and lots of useful recipes to take home.

We have a Tombola, 'Guess the Strawberry Sweeties in the Jar' and ice-cream tasting. Our Cafe will be serving Strawberry Cream Teas.

Entry to the event is free, and runs from 10am to 4pm. We hope you will stay to watch the jam judging and sit back whilst enjoying the atmosphere.

Jam competition:

During Strawberry Fair, judging will take place for two home-made strawberry jam classes: the first for strawberry as the only ingredient, and the second for strawberries with other ingredients – no limit on the type of extra ingredients or how many! The judges include a professional preserve maker, a WI expert, and representatives from Tastes of Lincolnshire & BBC Lincolnshire.

Judging will take place live at 11am to 12noon, then 1pm to 2pm. The cooking demo will take place in the Courtyard from 12noon until 1pm.  Our Cafe will be serving delicious Strawberry Cream Teas.

How to enter your jam. Jam may be dropped off in the week before the event, to arrive no later than 10am on Saturday 26th. Please present your jam in a jar that only has the ingredients on it, no name or address. We will log your jam and allocate it a number. The jam must be home-made, and made by yourself. We may offer the public a chance to try the jams, so please tell us if you are not happy getting half a jar or an empty jar back! Winners will be announced at 3pm. The winner of each class will receive a £25 farm Shop voucher. Good luck!

The event is free, please just pop along for as long as you wish. There is no cost to enter our jam competition.

If you have any queries, please call Jane in the Farm Shop on 01522 688 581.
