Casserole Morning in the Farm Shop, Saturday (FREE)
Fan of frugal but flavoursome brisket and oxtail? Out all day and thinking of getting a Slow Cooker? Love hearty casseroles? Join Amy (from our Cooking in the Kitchen Garden summer cooking demonstrations and jam / chutney making sessions) from 10am to 1pm in the Farm Shop to chat about warming slow-cooked casseroles and sample what she has cooked.
Amy will be using seasonal vegetables plus locally-reared brisket and oxtail from Phipps butchery, which both give a lot of meat and flavour for their price. If you love the hearty nutritious nature of homely casseroles and you want to be inspired or you want to pick up some new ideas please pop along!
Free, no need to book, just pop along (informal session).
If you're a fan of the Slow Cooker, or you're considering getting one, Amy will have one on the go with ready-to-sample casserole in it. A Slow Cooker is great for cuts that need a really slow cook, so Amy will have some brisket casserole and oxtail casserole for you to try.
Amy is also behind the booklet 'Tales & Recipes from Cooking in the Kitchen Garden at Doddington Hall' so will be happy to chat about any of the recipes in there as well.
