Marmalade Fiesta in the Farm Shop TODAY
Our popular Marmalade Fiesta returns today (19/02) promising another day of suspense as we judge the entrants! There are many ways you can take part in our Marmalade Fiesta. We have Seville oranges and our own Doddington Marmalade for sale or why not enter your own jar for judging?
For all you home preservers, we have wonderful Seville oranges in the shop for sale. Marmalade season is infamously very short - just a few weeks - so please pop in for your Seville oranges. What we have at the moment is the last we can get so please don't miss out.
Our own Doddington Marmalade made to Claire Birch's family recipe (which sold out very quickly last year) is now on sale.
On Saturday we will have plenty of free recipes for you take away and cook at home and of course super orangey dishes on our Cafe menu. (Reservations recommended for the cafe, please call 01522 688 581.)
But the highlight of the day will be a free competition for all keen cooks; why not enter your home-made marmalade? It will be judged by our panel of judges at 3pm on the Saturday - why not come along and watch? Please bring your entry to us by 2pm on the day of judging (Saturday 19 February).
The rules are simple: the marmalade must be made by yourself. It may include other ingredients but all marmalades will be judged against each other. Please present in a jar which does not have your name etc., on it. Please pop a note on the jar of what your marmalade is, for example 'Seville Orange' or 'Orange & Whisky'.
Our judges include the return of BBC Lincolnshire's Judy Theobald and WI expert Janet Russell. They will be joined this year by Jane Forster, who many of you will recognise from the Farm Shop as being our food and ingredients enthusiast. So you know what's going on, Amy will be our compere again.
See you there!
