Marmalade Fiesta this Saturday 20th Feb - free event!
Hola! It's our Marmalade Fiesta this Saturday when we celebrate the short Seville orange season with some sticky and delicious marmalade fun. There are many ways you can take part in our Marmalade Fiesta.
For all you home preservers, we already have wonderful Seville oranges in the shop for sale (plus free recipes) plus we also now have on sale the Doddington Marmalade made to Claire Birch's family recipe. This sold out very quickly last year, so please don't miss out.
On Saturday why not come along to our Marmalade Fiesta! (Free entry.) We will have plenty of marmalade tastings, recipes to you take away and cook at home, dishes cooked with Seville oranges for you to sample and of course super orangey dishes on our Cafe menu. (Reservations recommended for the cafe, please call 01522 688 581.) There will also be Eileen's excellent marmalade cakes for sale in the shop too.
But the highlight of the day will be a free competition for all keen preservers; why not enter your home-made marmalade? It will be judged by our panel of judges at 3pm on Saturday - why not come along and watch? Please bring your entry to us from now until 2pm on the day of judging.
Judges this year are last year’s winner Janet Russell, professional preserve maker Gill Maycock and Doddington chef Eileen Robertson. Sue Taylor and Judy Theobald from BBC Lincolnshire will also be judging and enjoying the proceedings. The rules are simple. The marmalade must be made by yourself. Please present in a jar which does not have your name etc., on it. The winning jar of marmalade will win its maker a Fish Supper Friday for Two (excluding drinks).
See you there!
