Organic & Bio-dynamic Wine Tasting in the Farm Shop (free) this Saturday
Between 11am and 2pm this Saturday (21st) meet Simon from Enotria (our new wine supplier) to try wine produced using organic and bio-dynamic methods. There is no charge to sample Simon's wines and to learn more about these methods of wine production. Just pop along!
The classification of ‘organic’ when talking about wine means that the vines are grown - and the grapes produced - without the use of synthetic pesticides, fungicides or nutrients.
Bio-dynamic viticulture is the most ‘extreme’ form of organic farming. Vines benefit from slow release organic nutrition, and husbandry is dictated by the cycle of the moon and position of the Planets! It sounds strange, but Simon will explain to you how there is a noticeable difference in not only the vigour of vines grown this way, but also the health and ripeness of grapes produced.
Amongst the wines Simon will have on offer are Angus Thompson’s bio-dynamic wines from Gladstone in New Zealand, and wines from the Colome estate in Argentina, which are the world’s highest at 3000 metres.
Our deli will also have two excellent organic cheeses for you to try - Cornish Organic Brie and Organic Cropwell Bishop Blue. Delicious!
