Visit Our Orchards (The One Show BBC1 7pm Friday 7 October)

Our lovely orchard was featured on Friday's The One Show (Friday 7 October) as part of Jay Rayner's excellent food slot. Our established orchard has various apples, crab apples and pears etc., as well as quince and medlar. The feature included the quince here at Doddington plus Claire Birch (the Hall's owner) showed Jay her family tradition of making quince cheese. (You can download Claire's recipes here.)

If you missed the programme, here is a link to the BBC's iPlayer facility for this episode.

We really enjoyed taking part in the filming, which was during the recent warm spell. If you would like to come and see our orchard for yourself you are very welcome. The Gardens are open every Sunday until the end of October. Then they close for the season. Admission on Sunday will also include entrance to the Kitchen Garden, where Claire spoke to Jay about the younger quince trees there. (There are quince in both the orchard and the Kitchen Garden.)

As well as the orchards, there is plenty of autumnal colour and interest at the moment ensuring an enjoyable visit. Afterwards, enjoy a hot drink and some cake in our Cafe or enjoy browising our Farm Shop. We really hope you can join us!

The Gardens open at 11am.  Admission is £5.00 adults, £2.75 children, £14.00 family (2 adults + 4 children). Children under 4 years free.
