February highlights


Scented winter flowering shrubs, rhododendrons, spectacular naturalised drifts of crocus Sieberi and Thomasianus, snowdrops, hellebores; crisp topiary in East Front and parterres of West Garden.

March highlights


Great drifts of daffodils, lent lilies, scilla, crocus and rhododendrons; mature trees give structure to pageant of spring bulbs

April highlights


Naturalised Crown Imperials, especially in the walled West Garden alongside elegant, delicate and as yet un-identified Edwardian Daffodil Cultivars; cherry and apple blossom; native spring wildflowers in the wild garden and nature-trail including cowslips, fritilleries, aconites and bluebells.

May highlights


Handkerchief tree in West Garden, magnolias, lush orchards with wildflowers, 'Lem's Giant' - spectacular, huge-flowered Rhododendron; late May - Irises and Peonies approaching their peak in the walled West Garden along with fabulous herbaceous borders.

June highlights


Bearded Iris display peaks early June, Walled west garden spectacular throughout the month, with Wisteria, Peonies, Aliums, Magnolia and lush herbaceous borders, contrasting with fresh green box-edged parterres.

July highlights


Continuing display in the walled West Garden, phlox, roses; herb garden and kitchen garden full of interest

August highlights


Delicious fountains in the walled west garden along with continuing display in borders, lots of space to explore including turf maze, temple of the wind, bog garden, temple of the wind and extraordinary ancient chestnut trees; lots of action in the kitchen garden as summer vegetables are picked for the farm shop and café.
