Free your creativity and connect with nature and yourself in these mindful courses. Learn how to capture and express what you see in the garden using a range of creative processes.
Rachel has teamed up with other nature-based soulful creatives to offer a range of courses that help you to express your connection to nature and your creativity.
In all courses we will spend the morning doing a mindfulness walk, encouraging you to switch off the chatter in your head and allow you to absorb the surroundings. You will be encouraged to forage as we walk to create a mood board which will form the inspiration for your creation.
Many people think they are not creative and this belief can inhibit them from trying new creative things because of the fear of not being able to do it. Foraging is so closely linked to creativity and using the garden and nature as a starting point can free you and remove those inhibitions. Anyone can pick up a pebble, or a feather, or a stick and these simple materials can be the starting point for something beautiful. These courses are not necessarily about learning ‘how to’. They are about using different techniques to express your experience of nature and the garden in that moment.
Join Rachel of Catkin Flowers on one of the following. The creative sessions are led by different artists:
13 June or 19 September 2023
Su France from Su France designs will lead a printing session where the materials you gather will form the inspiration and materials for a beautiful, unique botanical mono-print, capturing the essence of place and season. You will frame your print in a ready to hang frame to take away with you.
6 July 2023
Jessica Collin from Cast and Found will lead a session where you will use jewellers wax to carve and sculpt your own signature cocktail ring inspired by the items you have foraged. Jessica will guide you to create a bespoke organic design, which she will then take away and expertly cast into silver. NB You will need to collect your rings from Rachel at Doddington and the process can take up to 6 weeks.

Ruth Charnock is a storyworker, writer and teacher. She will help you to express your experience of the garden and the act of foraging and creating through written expression. We will explore how writing is a kind of foraging that can profoundly enrich and free up our relationship with our own creativity.
