Quince & Apple Crumble

Crumble may be a quintessentially British dish, but with this Quince and Apple Crumble, you can bring a fresh new, seasonal favorite to your table.

Our  Quince has been hand picked by our Kitchen Garden team and is packed with vibrant and bold flavors, with zero food miles.

You can find ingredients for this recipe in our Doddington Farm Shop, amongst other fresh produce from our Kitchen Garden or from specially selected local suppliers.

Quince & Apple Crumble

Serves: 4

Ingredients

3 Apples
3 Quince
120g Caster sugar
1 tbsp Water
100g Chilled butter cubes
150g Plain flour
80g Pecans (toasted)
80g Brown sugar

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°c.
  2. For the crumble, place the flour into a bowl and add the diced butter cubes. Rub the butter into the flour by hand until you have a crumble like texture. Next, roughly chop your pecans and add alongside your caster sugar to finish your crumble mix.
  3. Peel and core your apples and quince, before dicing and placing them into a lightly buttered 1.5 litre oven safe dish. Sprinkle with your brown sugar and water before mixing.
  4. Spread the crumble mix evenly over the fruit and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden.
  5. Serve warm and enjoy.

Serving Instructions

We recommend serving your Quince & Apple Crumble with plenty of hot custard or with a generous spoonful of vanilla ice cream.

Both recommended accompaniments are available from the Doddington Farm Shop.

“Growing up at Doddington, eating seasonal produce from the Kitchen Garden and farm was the only thing I knew. I learnt to cook using what was on hand here as the seasons passed and my love of cooking and good food stems from this. I strongly believe that the fresh, good quality ingredients are the foundation of delicious food.
