Make it a magical Christmas at Home

Deck the halls! Make it a magical Christmas at home with Doddington Hall

Homegrown Christmas trees, a sparkling Bauble Barn and shops brimming with gifts await visitors at the historic estate.

Doddington Hall & Gardens is helping people keep up their favourite festive traditions, from choosing a special bauble to finding the perfect tree this Christmas season.

The popular Bauble Barn, Christmas Tree Yard, and retail shops, which includes the Farm Shop, Giant Lincoln Bike Shop, Doddington at Home and Country Clothing will be open daily until Christmas Eve, giving people the opportunity to shop safely for their Christmas decorations and gifts. The Estate’s parkland is also open for a winter walk and warming takeaway treats from the Coffee Shop.

The open-air Christmas Tree Yard has been made even safer with trees being spaced out to help everyone browse in accordance with social distancing measures. Choose from a wide selection of freshly-cut trees in a variety of sizes, which have been grown on Doddington Estate, including the popular Norway spruce and Nordmann fir. Each tree is on display pre-netted, so you can find the perfect tree for your home until 12 noon on Christmas Eve.

The season sees the return of the best dressed Christmas tree competition (#DoddingtonTree). Doddington invites you to put your decorating skills to the test by entering its popular competition. To enter, share a picture of your Christmas tree to social media and tag @doddingtonhall (#DoddingtonTree) before 23rd December. The decorator whose skills are judged to be the best will win a £50 Doddington gift voucher.

To help you create a magical wonderland at home, visit the magnificent Bauble Barn, which is bursting with sparkly Christmas decorations from around the world. The Bauble Barn has the widest selection of Christmas decorations in the area, with traditional glass baubles as well as wood and tin. Bring the outside in with beautiful woodland and garden themes, so you can take a piece of Doddington home with you this Christmas. The Bauble Barn is open until 12 noon on Christmas Eve.

For a taste of Christmas magic, festive favourites including mince pies and mulled wine are available from the Coffee Shop situated in the Bike Shop – perfect for keeping the winter chill away on an Estate walk or while you choose your Christmas tree. A delicious hot food menu can also be ordered for collection over the phone on 01522 243189 or on arrival from the Coffee Shop.

Although the Doddington Tea Room is closed due to tier restrictions, you can enjoy Afternoon Tea in the comfort of your own home with Doddington’s Call + Collect service, available Wednesday to Sunday until 23rd December. Whether it’s a treat for yourself or a gift for a loved one, this beautiful box is packed full of the very best Estate produce, lovely local ingredients and Christmas treats. Orders can be placed between 10am-2pm, Tuesday to Friday. Order your treats the day before and by Friday for weekend orders to avoid disappointment, calling 01522 694308 (option 1).

Afternoon Tea can also be ordered between Christmas and New Year on Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st December to keep the celebrations going throughout the festive season, and will resume as usual from Wednesday 6th January.

The Farm Shop is filled with seasonal produce so you can have the tastiest Christmas yet. “We’ve got all the trees and trimmings you need to make the most of Christmas this year. 2020 has been a challenging year, so it’s all the more reason to find a little bit of magic where we can.

“Come along on a weekday to pick the perfect Christmas tree, choose sparkling decorations and browse in our shops for beautiful homeware, clothing and accessories that’ll wow your loved ones on Christmas Day. We’re here to help you make Christmas extra special this year!

“We hope to be able to share more details soon about opening the hall, which has been transformed to reflect this year’s theme, ‘Secret Gardens’, and we want to thank everyone who has been patient as we adjust Christmas at Doddington in accordance with the latest government guidelines.”

Doddington Hall has safely operated throughout summer and autumn, adapting the hall, gardens, shops and cafes to become COVID-secure for visitors. Social distancing and hygiene measures are implemented across the Estate, and for a quieter shopping experience, the team is advising people to visit between Monday and Thursday.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the hall will remain closed throughout the Christmas period.
