Our 400 year Wilder Doddington project is all about providing safe habitats for the UK’s declining wildlife population. This includes ground-nesting birds such as Skylarks, a bird in rapid decline in the UK due to habitat loss.
Ground nesting birds are particularly vulnerable from March to August. When disturbed by dogs off leads or people not sticking to footpaths, the female Skylark will take to the air in fright, hovering above her nest and growing increasingly exhausted. If disturbed too often, the parents may abandon the nest and their eggs or chicks for good.
Please help us to protect wildlife here at Doddington by walking only on footpaths and always keep your dog on a lead.
Dogs are not permitted in the Hall, Gardens, Sculpture Exhibition, Farm Shop, Farm Shop Café, Tea Room, upstairs in the Grain Store, Pumpkin Patch or Tree Yard (assistance dogs only).
There are a number of walks across the estate varying in both length and terrain. The parkland is open daily and free to access, all we ask is that you follow the Countryside Code whilst on our walks.
Please keep your dog on a lead at all times and dispose of dog waste responsibly.
The Grain Store is doggy friendly downstairs and the perfect place to refuel after walkies.
Well-behaved pooches (and their owners) are welcome in our Doddington at Home and Country Clothing store for a spot of retail therapy. Our stylish doggy range includes matching Pampeano leads and collars along with Sophie Allport dog beds and accessories plus much more for the discerning dog. Dog lovers can also pick up the perfect treat for themselves or as a gift with our great range of doggy themed items.
If you wish to make the most of your visit with your dog then why not stay on the estate in our pet-friendly Holiday Cottage, Holly Farm.
Please help us to protect wildlife and keep the parkland pleasant and tidy for all.
Keep dogs on a lead at all times.
If your dog fouls in our parkland, please bag it and bin it.
Bins are located in the main car park, on the wall opposite the Country Clothing store and by the public footpath/gate to the Avenue walk.
Please don’t leave bags of dog waste in the parkland, plastic bags are a danger to wildlife and take hundreds of years to degrade.
Please do not pick wildflowers.
Please do not light fires.
Do not walk between cows and their calves.
If the cattle follow you, just walk on calmly and quietly – do not panic or run.
Our cattle have a docile temperament, but can be curious especially if you have a dog.
