Dogs at Doddington
We love dogs at Doddington and you’re more than welcome to visit with your furry friends in tow. Due to the historic nature of Doddington and the abundance of resident wildlife, there are some areas you can't explore with paws.
Our estate trails are perfect for walkies. We just ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times and that any dog waste is bagged and binned responsibly.
As you explore, please keep an eye out for wildlife. Our 400 year Wilder Doddington project is all about creating safe habitats for the UK’s declining wildlife population. This includes ground-nesting birds such as Skylarks - a much-loved whose numbers have fallen sharply due to habitat loss.
Ground nesting birds are particularly vulnerable from March to August. When disturbed by dogs off leads or people not sticking to footpaths, the female Skylark will rise into the air in alarm, hovering above her nest and growing increasingly exhausted. If disturbed too often, the parents may abandon the nest and their chicks altogether.
Please help us to protect wildlife here at Doddington by keeping to our designated footpaths and always keeping your dog on a lead.
Dining with your dog
If you need to refuel after a long walk, well behaved pooches are very welcome downstairs and outside at the Grain Store Café, as well as outside in the Farm Shop Café courtyard.
Dogs are not permitted upstairs in the Grain Store Restaurant, so please bear this in mind if you have pre-booked a table. If in doubt, just ask a member of our team before booking.
