Doddington Hall
Our food story

Everything we do at Doddington Hall is rooted in the estate. From our Kitchen Garden to the surrounding countryside, the land has been shaping our food story for generations.

It is likely that there was a Kitchen Garden at Doddington since it was built the 16th century.  Even after all this time, the garden has retained its original Elizabethan layout, with the same brick walls providing shelter and warmth to the crops.

Originally created to feed just the residents of the Hall, this incredible historic garden now supplies all of our award-winning venues. From afternoon tea to à la carte dining, our homegrown produce takes centre stage on all of our menus.

A taste of
The estate

01

Organic beef

We raise our own herd of rare-breed Lincoln Red cattle on the estate. Pasture-fed and free to roam, they play an important role in shaping the landscape. We take a nose-to-tail approach to our cooking, ensuring the life of each animal is honoured and that nothing goes to waste.

02

Foraged ingredients

Our chefs are able to forage an abundance of seasonal ingredients from the estate. From wild garlic and mushrooms to nettles and sorrel, our menus are shaped by the natural ingredients we source from the land.

03

Fresh produce

From the vegetables served with our Sunday roasts to the ketchup on our burgers, you’ll find homegrown ingredients on all our menus. With an orchard, a vegetable patch, greenhouses and polytunnels, we are able to offer fresh, seasonal produce throughout the year.

04

Made in-house

We have an incredibly talented team of chefs who do everything in-house, from butchery to baking bread. Not only does this give them the space to get creative, it also allows us to follow the journey of your food, from estate to plate.

Claire Birch

Owner of Doddington Hall

“Growing up at Doddington, eating seasonal produce from the Kitchen Garden and farm was the only thing I knew. I strongly believe that the fresh, good quality ingredients are the foundation of delicious food.”

Field

The Kitchen Garden at Doddington provides an abundance of fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs, all of which take centre stage on our menus.

A driving force of our Wilder Doddington project is our herd of rare breed and pasture-fed Lincoln Red cattle.

From supporting local producers to championing independent businesses, we are here to celebrate all that this wonderful county has to offer.

Lincolnshire is responsible for producing over 30% of England’s vegetables. From cauliflower and kale to grains and cereals, this rural county is a major food hub, contributing £4.8 billion to the economy each year.

At Doddington Hall, supporting local farmers is a key part of our ethos. Alongside our own estate-grown produce, we are proud to showcase suppliers from across Lincolnshire.

Keeping things local doesn’t just support Lincolnshire’s farming industry; it also reduces our food miles, helping to lower emissions and minimise our carbon footprint.

By working with trusted local suppliers, we can offer the freshest seasonal ingredients, with complete transparency from field to table.

In our Farm Shop, you’ll find seasonal fruit and vegetables alongside produce from our Kitchen Garden. Across our cafés and restaurant, we showcase a taste of Lincolnshire on every menu, sourcing ingredients from across the county to create fresh, flavourful dishes.
