Farm Shop Blog – May

The Farmshop is a hive of activity this week as we get ready for our first Doddington Food Feastival on Monday 7 May. We are really excited that you will be able to meet some of our lovely producers and learn a bit more about their products and what makes them so special. We also have some new products for you to try and based on your feedback we will decide if they become regular lines in the shop.

We are also preparing to showcase some of our Farm Shop team’s favourite lines, we will be offering a hamper of them to one lucky visitor to the Feastival. I’m having real trouble deciding what my favourite is but at this time of year Jersey Royals and Asparagus have to be up there. Emily will be cooking both of these on our vegan stand.

We are so lucky to have so many great ingredients at our fingertips but sometimes we potentially forget the simple things. Last weekend I completely forgot to make a pudding until almost the last minute, I was meant to cook a crumble but instead I fell back to one of my mum’s classic desserts – baked apples. Prepped in five minutes and everyone loved them.
