Doddington Forestry Project

We were approached and were successful in securing support through an Ancient Woodland Restoration Project funded by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund, administered by the Woodland Trust and with our case being supported by Natural England. This is a 10-year project.

Visitors to Doddington in 2022 may notice large quantities of felled timber.

We were approached and were successful in securing support through an Ancient Woodland Restoration Project funded by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund, administered by the Woodland Trust and with our case being supported by Natural England. This is a 10-year project.

Through selective thinning of non-native trees and Ash trees dying from Ash Dieback, the Old Hagg and Little Sale woods are being restored to maximise their future contribution to biodiversity, in particular letting light in to support the ground habitat and flora. The felled wood will be used in Doddington’s biomass boiler, which heats the Hall, shops, cafes, offices, wedding venue and holiday cottages.
