Highlights

Summer at Doddington

If spring is a season to rest and recharge, summer is an opportunity to get outside and explore! Whether you’re visiting for the day or staying in one of our holiday cottages, Doddington is the perfect place to spend a sunny day.

Our packed summer events programme allows you to experience the Hall in new and exciting ways, with live music, theatre and the annual Sculpture exhibition transforming the grounds.

In the Doddington gardens, we savour the summer months. Compared to the quick bursts of new life in spring, the longer days invite the gardens to slow down and show off. Left to their own devices, they reward us with an incredible display of colour and fragrance. From our impressive rhododendrons to our elegant irises, there is something in flower all summer long.

And it’s not just in the gardens where we encourage you to slow down. Those long, sunny days are the perfect excuse to linger a little longer over lunch or join us for a post-padel pint. Take a seat outside to watch the world go by and soak up that vibrant summer energy.

Prefer to eat later when it’s warm? The Grain Store opens for relaxed dining on Friday and Saturday evenings. Join us for dinner and you can watch the sun go down from the balcony, cocktail in hand – even if you’re local, you’ll feel like you’re on holiday.

Thinking about
stopping by?

With so much to do at Doddington, it can be hard to fit everything into just one day. So here are a few useful things to know before you set off:

Summer events at Doddington

Every summer, Doddington Hall and its beautiful gardens provide the backdrop for a season of performance.

From July onwards, we host a full programme of live events on the lawn. Under the gaze of the Elizabethan Hall, you can enjoy everything from opera to open-air theatre.

Steeped in history, this unique setting adds something even more magical to the experience. There’s nothing like watching Shakespeare performed in front of the architecture that defines his era.

Sculpture

Throughout the summer months, our annual Sculpture exhibition transforms the grounds of Doddington Hall into an incredible outdoor gallery.

From July to September, the gardens become home to over 300 works of art, carefully curated to complement the natural surroundings.

Featuring the work of local, national and international sculptors, the exhibition offers a chance not only to enjoy the art, but to experience the Doddington gardens like never before.
