Jane Shaw discovered her love for sculpture during her school days in Gloucestershire, thanks to a talented sculpture teacher who greatly inspired her. After obtaining a History of Art degree from Manchester University, Jane began her career with a fine art valuation and consulting firm in London.

In 2013, a move to Dorset rekindled her artistic spirit. Surrounded by the natural world she’s always loved, Jane returned to sculpture, drawing inspiration from her lifelong interest in wildlife and the outdoors. Working in bronze, she is passionate about conveying the emotion and movement of animals and wildlife. Her focus is on portraying the inner character and essence of each individual creature by using fluid, spontaneous, and strong gestural strokes in any material she uses. She believes that there is beauty in the ugly and that every subject, whether wild, domestic, equestrian or figurative, has a story worth telling.

Often working directly from life, Jane creates both small indoor pieces and large-scale sculptures for the garden. Her total dedication to her craft has earned her several sculpture awards. She continues to focus on personal projects alongside private commissions, with a consistent emphasis on wildlife and animals. Jane exhibits her work across the UK and welcomes visitors to her sculpture garden studio in Dorset.
