Penny Hardy

of South Devon, UK

Penny creates sculptures distinguished by a powerful sense of movement and emotional intensity. A full‑time sculptor for over fifteen years, she has exhibited widely across the UK, with work held in private collections throughout Europe and the United States, as well as Australia and South Africa.

Her preferred medium is recycled mild steel, which she uses to create figurative works responding to strong emotions and the physical impact they have on the human body. Penny is particularly interested in how external and environmental forces shape us, both physically and emotionally. By working with discarded, recycled machinery, objects originally engineered with precision and purpose, she aims to extend their life in a new form. Their inherent energy is re‑used, their original function exchanged to create something expressive and alive.

Penny’s work balances strength with sensitivity, transforming industrial material into quietly powerful sculptural narratives. In 2025, she was awarded the People’s Vote for Best Sculpture at the Cotswold Sculpture Park.

Penny has also recently been involved in raising funds for UNICEF and 'doitforbrodie.com' using her sculptures to create pieces that evoke strong emotions, taking the viewer on a journey to raise awareness for both charities to support their valuable work for children across the world with UNICEF and for mental health and suicide prevention with 'doitforbrodie.com'.
