Mothering Sunday Afternoon Tea

This Mother’s Day, treat someone you love to an unforgettable afternoon tea in our award-winning tea room, accompanied by the gentle melodies of harpist Ruth Lee.

Served in our beautiful Coach House, this dining experience is the perfect blend of charm and sophistication. With a special menu designed for the occasion, you can indulge in freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, a selection of Doddington’s signature sweet treats and an array of delicious sandwiches – all served on pretty, vintage-style china.

Alongside our traditional afternoon tea, we also offer a savoury-inspired menu for those with less of a sweet tooth, as well as a children’s menu for smaller appetites.

Our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea is served with a choice of tea or coffee, plus a glass of prosecco or elderflower fizz, perfect for toasting the mother figure in your life.

Special dietaries: Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and nut-free menus are also available.

Introducing Ruth Lee

We’re delighted to have Ruth Lee performing at our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea.

An award-winning harpist, composer and vocalist, Ruth specialises in contemporary and classical styles, creating bespoke harp arrangements that make every moment unforgettable.

Her music has been celebrated at the World Harp Competition, World Harp Congress, and UK Harp Competition, and she’s the proud winner of the 2024 I Do Wedding Awards – Singers & Instrumentalists.

For Mother’s Day, Ruth will perform a collection of timeless classics alongside beautiful interpretations of modern favourites. A celebration of love, family, and connection, her carefully curated programme of music will resonate with mothers and families of all ages.


Make a day of it

Before or after your Afternoon Tea, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the walled and wild gardens surrounding the Elizabethan Hall. Our spectacular Spring Bulb Pageant will be alive with drifts of daffodils and pops of wood anemones, don’t forget to look out for beautiful blossom too, creating a breathtaking seasonal display.

Gardens are open from Wed-Sun, 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm). Garden admission applies, Adult £9.50 each, and tickets are available on arrival at the Gatehouse.
