Anthony McKay

of Warwickshire

Anthony McKay’s passion for sculpture has always been closely intertwined with a deep love of nature. After training as a sculptor at Cardiff School of Art, he went on to work as a furniture maker, a discipline through which he developed strong skills and techniques in wood carving.

His work is regularly exhibited in North Norfolk, and he has also shown at the Society of Wildlife Artists’ Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. The sculptures created for this exhibition are carved from European lime and American yellow poplar, both sustainable hardwoods chosen for their ability to achieve a smooth, detailed finish.

Anthony has spent many years visiting the North Norfolk coastline, closely studying its wide variety of wading and seabirds. The dancer-like qualities of these wild creatures, combined with the unique landscape of the region, have been a continual source of inspiration. He hopes these works convey some of that movement and spirit to the viewer.
