Deborah Harrison

of Gloucestershire, UK

Deborah discovered her aptitude for stone carving in her middle years while attending the Greenbelt Arts Festival. She went on to study stone masonry at Bath City College, where she developed the skills that led to a full‑time professional practice. She now specialises in carving alabaster.

With over a decade of experience and more than a hundred stone sculptures completed, Deborah has received a number of significant commissions. These include a coronation gift for King Charles III commissioned by the City of Gloucester, a memorial for Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, and works acquired by Gloucestershire NHS Trust and the former Chair of the UN Committee Against Torture.

Deborah waits for spiritual inspiration before she carves then follows the form, grain and colour of the stone to release the best form of what she has seen within the stone. This deep respect for the medium results in pieces that are raw, expressive, and profoundly moving, often exploring themes of faith, social justice, nature, and human emotion.
