A lifelong sculptor who began his career sculpting in stone before moving to stainless steel in the early 2000s, Ian’s love of nature and natural forms played well into the qualities of stainless steel, its ability to play with light and the material’s flexibility initially pulling him away from stone.
Surface and colour have an important role in nature, helping to define structure and purpose. Ian reflects this in his sculptures where form, texture and colour breathe life into solid, inanimate materials. A member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, Ian exhibits in Europe and the UK and is regularly commissioned by corporate and public bodies as well as for many private clients.
