Jeni Cairns

of Cambridgeshire, UK

Jeni is an artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the natural landscapes that have shaped her life. A childhood spent exploring lanes, farmland and places reclaimed by nature has left a lasting influence on her work. She works across a wide range of mediums, including sculpture, painting, drawing, gardens and natural spaces, with a particular focus on metal. Using a hand‑held plasma cutter, she creates intricate imagery in materials such as reclaimed oil drums, agricultural machinery, new steel and corten steel.

Metal’s durability and recyclability make it a powerful medium for Jeni, reflecting both the fragility and resilience of the natural world. Alongside public and private commissions, she maintains a strong strand of self‑directed work rooted in ecological awareness.

Her garden design practice, now on pause, has centred on balancing human needs with those of wildlife. Recent personal and artistic shifts have deepened her connection to nature, learning directly from land and plants and exploring ways of co‑creating with, rather than controlling, the natural world.
