Scarecrow Competition
Our annual Scarecrow Competition returns this October half term, bringing a colourful cast of characters to Doddington.
This year, local schools and community groups are invited to get creative around the theme Famous Film Characters, making their own scarecrows using sustainable and recycled materials.
All of the entries will be displayed on the Gatehouse Lawn throughout October half term, creating a fun, free display for visitors to discover from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November.
From familiar favourites to imaginative interpretations, look out for famous faces from the big screen brought to life in scarecrow form.
How to take part
We’d love local schools, classes and community groups to join in. Create your own Famous Film Character scarecrow for the chance to win a Doddington Christmas tree* for your class or group.
Entries must be registered by Friday 16 October and completed scarecrows delivered to Doddington by 12 noon on Friday 23 October.
Creativity, originality, sustainability and robustness will all be considered by our judging team, with the winning entry announced on Monday 2 November.

*Christmas trees are limited to 8ft. The winning tree will be selected by our Woodsman, netted and must be collected from the Stable Yard.
