Winter Tree ID
Discover the secrets of winter trees and learn to identify native species using buds, bark, twigs and their distinctive shapes.
Even in winter, trees are a striking feature of the landscape. With their leaves, flowers and fruits gone, identifying different species can seem challenging, but there are still plenty of clues if you know where to look.
Join garden designer and educator Guy Petheram for a practical workshop exploring the fascinating details that distinguish our native trees in winter. Combining indoor learning with a guided walk through Doddington's parkland and woodland, you'll learn how to recognise different species while discovering more about their ecology and cultural history.
From the intricate shapes of buds to the textures of bark and the silhouettes of bare branches, you'll develop new skills and a deeper appreciation of the trees around us.
No previous knowledge is needed, just curiosity and an enthusiasm for the natural world.
