31 July: Wild Arts present 'The Marriage of Figaro'

Paul Green

of Suffolk, UK

With a lifelong interest in nature and art, Paul is known for his sculptures of wild birds in the UK and overseas, using only wire and a pair of trusty pliers.

Having watched birds since being a very young child, Paul’s passion eventually led to a 25-year career as a nature reserve warden on the Suffolk coast. A passion for art ran alongside his career, as he found inspiration from the birds he was protecting. During lockdown, while on furlough and unable to visit the reserves he was working to protect Paul spent many hours wire sculpting the birds in his garden. A period which resulted in an appearance on ‘Grayson Perry's Art Club’ and a subsequent invitation to exhibit in Manchester Art Gallery. Shortly after lockdown, Paul swapped his career full-time, and wire sculpting became his new occupation.
