Martin Adamson
Martin’s sculptures capture a moment in time, a fleeting glimpse of a beautiful animal in its natural environment. His practice is rooted in close observation, aiming to convey both movement and stillness in equal measure.
Martin’s sculptures capture a moment in time, a fleeting glimpse of a beautiful animal in its natural environment. His practice is rooted in close observation, aiming to convey both movement and stillness in equal measure.
Beginning his career as a freelance model maker, Martin developed a deep understanding of materials and processes while creating puppets for the stop‑motion animation industry. This foundation continues to inform his sculptural work. For more than twenty years, he has worked from his studio in the Cotswolds, producing distinctive sculptures in bronze, resin, stone and driftwood.
A regular surfer on the Severn Bore, the powerful tidal wave that sweeps up the Bristol Channel, Martin draws constant inspiration from the changing rhythms of the River Severn. Its tides also provide a rich source of driftwood for his work. He exhibits widely in outdoor exhibitions across the Cotswolds and was named in the Cotswold Sculpture Park Top Five People’s Choice Awards, 2025.
