Pippa Unwin

of South Devon, UK

Having begun her career as a children's book illustrator, Pippa also worked as a stonemason. For more than 20 years Pippa undertook restoration work, memorials and fireplaces, as well as working on pieces for Salisbury and Exeter cathedrals.

Today, she mainly carves sculptures, focusing on animals and birds hewn out of limestone, marble and alabaster. Pippa also led the Great Britain Snowcarving team, at the International Snow Sculpture Championships which saw her team work on 3m cube blocks of compressed snow all over the world. When she isn’t sculpting, Pippa enjoys sailing or walking with her husband, Andy, and their hooligan dog, Bonnie.
