HAPPY NEW YEAR
Freddie is a wildlife sculptor from Newcastle Upon Tyne, now working full-time from his studio in Hackney, East London. Driven by a deep love of wildlife and a strong commitment to sustainability, he transforms discarded metal into striking life-sized and larger sculptures using only hand tools. Now in his third year as a full-time sculptor, Freddie’s largest creation so far stands an impressive 3 metres tall and weighs 1.5 tons.
To further honour his materials, Freddie does not manipulate the tools he uses. When viewers take a closer look, all components are completely recognisable, as well as the animal itself. Freddie believes the tools were critical to their trade and now live on with a new purpose, that of structure and beauty. He hopes to inspire others and encourage creative ways to repurpose debris.
