Joe trained as a stained-glass maker, but in the past 15 years, he has been creating mostly contemporary works of art. An artist who finds pleasure in sharp contrasts, Joe enjoys stepping away from glass as the primary medium combining it with other media including mild and stainless steel metal, and ceramic.

The sea, especially where the water runs into land is an important source of inspiration for Joe, who has exhibited with the Society of Designer Craftsmen in London, the Sculpture Society in Surrey, and the Oxford Sculptors' Group in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire and takes part in the Surrey Artists' Open Studios event every year.
