Opera on the Lawn
31 July: Wild Arts present 'The Marriage of Figaro'

Jonathan Loxley

of Wiltshire, UK

Carving in marble, because it is physical and dynamic, Jonathan chooses this material due to how it informs every move of his hammer. The marble often forces Jonathan’s hand, dictating where the lines go forcing him to be bold with his marks.

For as long as he can remember, Jonathan has been attracted to particular shapes and forms that he has grown to believe have inhabited the human psyche since mankind’s fruition. Silenced by our own evolution, Jonathan’s work encourages this dormant voice to surface.
