Born in England’s North‑East and now rooted in the wild beauty of the Brecon Beacons, Daren Greenhow swapped a career in science to devote himself entirely to sculpture, working from his studio in South Wales.
A lifelong inventor, he delights in making and creating. He also enjoys the challenge of taking everyday objects and reinterpreting them in new, unexpected contexts.
That spirit of curiosity and inventiveness is expressed strongly in his metal sculptures. Each piece is completely original, unique, intriguing and unmistakably his. Daren’s medium of choice is steel, using welding as the primary joining technique. Whether figurative or abstract, large or small, indoor or outdoor, every piece carries his signature blend of precision, wit and wonder.
Daren models a diverse range of subjects, including the human body, mammals, fish, birds, insects and mythical creatures, all uniquely portrayed in steel.
