Nicci Fairbank

Raised on a farm in South Australia, Nicci grew up surrounded by vast horizons, expansive skies, animals, and all nature’s elements. Her artistic practice took a back seat while raising a family, but creativity remained a constant, quietly simmering in the background. In the last six years, she has concentrated on metal sculpture, working with mild steel, creating pieces inspired by nature and her garden. Nicci finds the physicality of working with metal and its tools exhilarating and has started to explore using welding in an artistically painterly way.

In the last six years, she has concentrated on metal sculpture, working with mild steel, creating pieces inspired by nature and her garden. Nicci finds the physicality of working with metal and its tools exhilarating and has started to explore using welding in an artistically painterly way.

Largely self-taught, she has attended short courses at Heatherley’s School of Art, Central Saint Martins and West Dean College, and received guidance, inspiration, and tutoring from practising artists and industry experts.

An active member of the Surrey Sculpture Society, The Wildwood Group of Artists and Leatherhead Art Club, Nicci’s sculpture work has appeared in exhibitions across the southeast of England.
