Her practice is grounded in an emotional response to colour and a deep, sustained connection to the natural world. Sian’s paintings evoke the seasons through fleeting, intangible moments: the quiet unease of winter, the force of a swirling wind, golden hour dissolving the garden into light, or autumn leaves igniting into flame. Drawing on historical painting traditions, she builds richly layered surfaces on linen canvas using sweeping gestures, translucent washes, impasto and passages of exposed ground. Her work is tactile, luminous and alive, pulsing with energy while carrying an undercurrent of depth and quiet darkness.
